Learning to become a woman or a man begins in childhood.

Children primarily imitate what they see around them as this is what they see as natural behaviour.

Traditionally in dance, the man conquers/leads, the woman seduces/follows – that is the man is the creator, the woman the retaining force.

In Hungarian folk dance, the man is determined, he knows what he wants, but he pays attention to the woman because he cannot perform his leading role without the woman’s involvement.

The Román Sándor Academy prepares young boys for the male roles and young girls for the female roles found throughout traditional dance.
